Update 24/04/07

Whether it was the heat or a lack of form recently, my legs decided that this was not going to be a record breaking run pretty early on and decided I should probably agree. You really get to realise the power of the amazing London spectators when things aren't going so well and I was amazed by the camaraderie of all the other runners in the challenging conditions. Conscious of the heat, runners offered me the end of their water and encouraged me when I was struggling. All in all, a very memorable and unexpected day.

Running for WPF motivated me to keep going and it was a wonderful feeling to cross the finish line and know that it meant over £1,200 had been raised for the work they do

» Gary & Nicholls: The Stevenage and North Herts Counselling Centre
http://www.justgiving.com/garyandsarah.  They have raised so far £2145.

The Stevenage and North Herts Counselling Centre is based in Stevenage. We offer low cost affordable counselling to people in Stevenage, Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield, Letchworth and surrounding areas. We are hoping that our London Marathon runners will raise us £4000 so that we can continue to offer subsidised counselling to our local community.

Our marathon runners are Gary Nicholls and his daughter Sarah Nicholls. Gary has run the London Marathon before and decided that when he reached 50 he would like to celebrate this milestone birthday by running again.

Sarah decided to join her Dad and has taken to the training like a duck to water. She has joined a local running club and is aiming to run in under 4 hours.

So please sponsor Gary and Sarah and help them reach their target.

Udate: 20/02/07

I have had a fantastic week - sponsorship is up to £801.00 now.  I ran 15 miles at the weekend (this being the first time I have run more than a half marathon) and I felt ok afterwards -  a positive sign as I still have 11m to go at that point!!

Whilst I know many of my friends believe I have clearly 'taken leave of my senses', I am actually looking forward to marathon day and the whole experience and challenge.

Update: 19/02/07

Dear All
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. My decision to run the marathon was not taken lightly and I am now fully in to my training programme. I am sure many of you, like me, are concerned at the growing number of homeless people on the streets of London. more»

With regards to training I am running up to 15 miles on the weekend and am also doing a couple of smaller runs, ranging from 3-8 miles during the week. It is hard work but well worth putting the effort in now so there are no dramas on the day.
All the best
Rob

Update: 19/02/07

Running the London marathon has been a unimaginable dream come true for my brother and I and not only can we make our dream come true, but we also have the opportunity to help others in the process. This is why we run for wpf, who actually have the right people and means to make the difference for so many that I cant reach but the money raised through this event can help reach. So please do your part in creating a better life for all the people that wpf counsel and treat.

Training is going great so far, I'm doing a half marathon this weekend up in Woodford Green and hoping to work on my speed, thus going for a 5min per kilometer race...will see how it goes but I'm confident that my training will pay off.
