Many clients come to therapy struggling with issus around how
they relate intimately, whether in or out of relationships. this
short course is for individual or couple therapists who wish to
develop their expertise in relationship therapy. This course will
consist of a weekly seminar and case discusssion.
- Would you like to develop your
understanding of 'couple fit'? Attachment patterns in couple
choice? Different patterns in pairings?
- Are your clients struggling with issues
around sex and intimacy? When should you refer on to specialist
psychosexual work?
- Do your client's have violent or
abusive relationships? Why do they stay?
- How do oedipal dynamics come into
couple relationships?
- Learn more about couple issues:
parenting, fertility, fostering, adoption, pornography, affairs and
infidelity.
The course will over the following

- Couple Fit
- Sex and Intimacy
- Internet Pornography
- Assessment and Frame
- Confidentiality in the
triangle
- Using Attachment, Psychodynamic and
Systemic Thinking in Clinical Work
- Couple Issues in the
Therapy

Course Tutors
Annie
Power qualified at the Centre for Attachment-Based
Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy following trainings in humanistic
counselling and group work. She has training in Supervision at WPF
Therapy and in couple work with Relate. She has worked in the NHS
and the voluntary sector and has a private practice and also
supervises in various settings.
Jenny Riddell is a psychoanalytic
psychotherapist working with individuals and couples. She is a
registered member of The Bowlby Centre and BSCPC. Her specialist
interests are in how a couple grieve, infertility, affairs and
working with couples in later life. She has a private practice and
supervises, trains, teaches and is academic supervisor for masters
dissertations on a variety of psychotherapy trainings. She has
worked with Relate, WPF Therapy, TCCR, and is a member of BPC,
UKCP, BAPPS, COSRT, BACP.
Target Audience
This course is for individually trained counsellor and
psychotherapists who work with clients presenting issues around
intimate relationships.
This course is not a qualification
in couples therapy. However, it will be useful to those working
with individuals who are presenting relationship difficulties. It
may also be of interest to therapists who are working with couples
already or who have been asked to see a couple in an agency
setting.
Application Details
Applicants must be either (1) WPF Therapy Advanced Diploma
Graduates or (2) BACP accredited* or (3) registered with UKCP/BPC
or (4) a Professional Member of the BPS (proof will be required
before a place can be offered - see below). Offers of a place will
only be made on receipt of ALL DOCUMENTS, including copies of
registration certificates.
* Please note that BACP MEMBERSHIP does
not meet the entry criteria.
*Applicants who do not meet these criteria, either
because they are not accredited, or are on a recognised training
leading to accreditation with one of the aforementioned bodies, are
still eligible to apply.
In these cases a Certificate of Attendance will be
awarded on successful completion of the course and not the
Post-Qualifying Certificate. However, if your accreditation is
completed before the end of the course you will be awarded the
Post-Qualifying Certificate. Additionally, if you achieve
accredited status up to 6 months after the end of the course, on
presentation of proof, we will amend your award to the
Post-Qualifying Certificate.
