3. Making an appointment for an assessment

Once the appointment for an assessment is made, we will send you a private and confidential questionnaire to complete and return to us.

A WPF Therapy Assessment is a 90 minute process in which a trained therapist will invite you to talk and ask you some questions to understand what is troubling you. This conversation will enable  the therapist to consider with you the way your problems are affecting you and discuss ways forward. They will discuss with you whether talking therapy is best suited to your needs and if so what kind of therapy will  be likely to be most helpful

Waiting times for an assessment can vary, normally you can expect to wait for approximately 2-3 weeks

4. Start your therapy

We will then write to you within three to four weeks with our recommendations and aim to start your therapy as soon as possible.

If we are not able to provide the help you need we will suggest alternatives whenever we can

Confidentiality
What you choose to talk about will be heard in confidence. You will be free to talk safely and without fear of rejection, judgement or blame. No information will be disclosed to anyone outside WPF Therapy without your written permission, except under very rare circumstances connected with the law (e.g. Child Protection).

Good practice
All our counsellors and psychotherapists work to professional codes of ethics and practice (copies available). We are committed to equal opportunities in all our work.

As WPF Therapy is not a specialist addiction agency we ask that people with drug and alcohol dependencies seek specialist help before contacting WPF Therapy.

Costs
The minimum charge for the assessment is £40, depending on income. The payment for the initial consultation is normally calculated at £2 per £1000 of income.  The assessment consultation costs WPF Therapy £250. We are a charity funded partly by client contributions and partly by grants from Trusts and gifts from individual and corporate donors.

For ongoing counselling payment is calculated according to income (at £1.25 per £1,000 of household income) with the minimum payment being £20 per session (£25 before 9am, and after 6pm in the evening).

Payments for short term counselling and cognitive behavioural therapy start at a minimum of £30 (£60 peak time) per session, depending on income.

For group therapy the minimum payment is £20 per session, depending on income.

You will be expected to pay for missed or cancelled sessions, except for those cancelled by your therapist. This enables us to maintain your regular appointment time for the duration of your counselling.
