Long Term Psychodynamic Psychotherapy
Psychodynamic psychotherapy at WPF Therapy is a once-weekly
one-to-one therapy, with each session lasting 50 minutes at WPF
Therapy's central London consulting rooms. The duration of the
therapy can be discussed with the therapist.
These regular sessions provide an opportunity to explore recurring
patterns of behaviour, especially in relationships, which may
be repeated in the consulting room. The therapist will work
with the client to consider these without fear of criticism
or retaliation.
The psychodynamic approach at WPF Therapy recognises that
problems and distress in the present may have originated in early
life experiences. Understanding this can provide the first step
towards changes in perception, awareness and
relationships.
Counselling and psychotherapy provide a safe place in which to
explore past and present feelings and the connections between past
and current relationships.
Long term psychodynamic psychotherapy can be particularly
helpful when experiencing deeper seated problems such as:
- Depression
- Relationship difficulties
- Stress, anxiety
- Bereavement
- Low self-esteem
- Eating Disorders
- Recurring problems of long duration
Some people embark on a course of psychotherapy in order simply
to learn more about themselves and how they operate. Psychotherapy
increases self-awareness and many people - not just those
experiencing significant emotional difficulties or psychological
problems - can achieve lasting benefits from doing some 'work on
themselves' - benefits that can include greater confidence, better
relationships and a greater ability to manage stress.
