At WPF Therapy, we understand how different life
chances affect mental health. We have an explicit commitment to
equality of opportunity and our charitable work aims to make
affordable therapy more readily available.
Research has helped establish that psychotherapy and
counselling really do make a positive difference. It can help a
person who feels lost gain direction and someone who feels empty to
find meaning in their life. We work with fear, low self esteem,
anger, distress, loss, bereavement and neglect. We work to help
people have greater clarity about their needs and choice about
their behaviour, and ultimately to have the peace of mind that so
many people are searching for.
WPF Therapy sees people with serious long term
physical illness and we work with people who know they are dying,
as well as with carers. We work with young adults, to help them
establish their adult identity, and with older people adjusting to
personal change. But most of our work is with people who are just
unhappy - about the way they are leading their lives, about
difficult events they are trying to come to terms with, about their
future prospects. These issues can affect all of us at some time
during our lives.
At WPF Therapy, we see the potential of everyone to
benefit from therapy. Private therapy can be costly. We want to
make sure that price is not a barrier to feeling better.
This is why we need your help.

Leaving a gift to WPF in your will
Leaving a legacy to WPF Therapy is not complicated, but it
does need to be included in a professionally made will.
If you have already made a will, but would like to
add a gift to WPF Therapy, you can do so by making a simple
addition or codicil. A codicil will enable you
to include new instructions and delete old ones without rewriting
the whole will.
If you do not have a will at the moment, you may need
to see a solicitor. Although you may have to pay a fee, you will
receive sound professional advice.
There are two main ways of giving to WPF Therapy in your
will
- Pecuniary gift - giving a gift of a fixed
amount of money
- Residuary gift - choosing to leave a share, or
the whole, of what is left in your estate after your other legacies
and any outstanding costs have been dealt with.
Whatever you can give will, of course, be free of
Inheritance Tax. And from
April 2012, the rate of Inheritance Tax payable on an estate will
be reduced from 40% to 36% where 10% or more of the estate is left
to charity.
