Community
Action Southwark (CAS) organised its
first conference for trustees - Helping Put the Trust in Trustee -
on 2-3 November 2011, during National Trustee Week.
It was attended by more than 80 Trustees, Management Committee
Members, staff members and volunteers from Southwark and across
Greater London.
Joan Baxter,
WPF Therapy's CEO, participated in a
panel debate on Innovative and Sustainable Funding, chaired by Jane
Garnham, CEO at
CAS. Joan spoke about WPF
Therapy's social enterprise model which has enabled the charity to
flourish despite a difficult economic climate. Guest
speakers also included:

and Mergers, Cath Lee, CEO at Small Charities Coalition and
CTN network the trustee network,
· Planning for
commissioning and contracts - Richard
Bridge, Head of Consultancy and the Regions at
Community Matters
· Premises - Julia

Director, Broadgate Estates
Joan also
ran two interactive workshop on managing stress which focused on
identifying the sources of stress in organisations. Each workshop
was attended by around 30 participants who learned some techniques
for using groups to explore the causes of stress.
The conference was a great success and
CAS are hoping to run it again next
year.
